I had a cockatiel and I had for I think threeish years before he flew away. My mom refused to clip his wings so he was free to fly around the house when he was out of the cage. My dad came home one day, opened the door not realizing the bird was out, and my bird flew onto my dad’s head (he was halfway inside), my dad shook his head and out my bird flew. I was devastated, and everyday I would go outside for long periods at a time, and just sit there looking in trees, calling his name, anything and everything. My school nurse is a bird breeder and has many many birds. I’d brought flyers into school for a missing bird, so everyone knew my bird was missing. I forget exactly how it happened, but I got a phone call from this woman about 45 minutes from my house saying that she found a cockatiel. My family drove all the way to her house and on the way we kept doubting it. When we got there, there was my bird, sitting in a cage. The woman worked at an Old Age center nearby my house and found my bird injured and sick outside of the center. She brought him back to her house (she had a female cockatiel), and tried to help him out. My nurse’s husband had read a memo in the paper for a found bird, and my nurse knew I’d lost mine so they called her/called me. I forget now. Anyway, I got my bird back, but I was extrememly lucky. They don’t usually come back, and it’s not because they don’t want too, often wild birds beat them up (happened to my bird too) and sometimes kill them. I hope you find your bird, I know how upset I was when I lost mine. I wish you a lot of luck, and don’t stop looking yet!
