How Can I Get Rid Of My Pet Cat That Pees All Over My House, Without Putting Him Down?
I have a 7 year old cat who is neutered, and recently started spraying all over my house. Our vet said there is nothing we can do to stop the spraying, and nobody will take him in. I can not put him to sleep. What should i do with my cat?
There are plenty of things that can be done to stop spraying. Consult a different vet, find out why the cat is spraying, if it’s stress-related try pheromone diffusers/sprays, talk with the vet about medication, etc. Don’t just dump your cat without trying to resolve the problem.
When neutered cats spray it’s usually due to health problems or because they are feeling anxious. Has the vet carried out a thorough examination and tests to rule out all medical conditions?
If the vet has given your cat a clean bill of health, then you need to investigate why your cat might be feeling stressed or worried that his territory is under threat of some kind. Cats find it comforting to be surrounded by their own scent, and normally they are content to do this by rubbing their faces up against furniture, doorways etc. However, if they are feeling anxious they will resort to spraying because it’s a much quicker and stronger method of placing their scent everywhere.
The web site below has a helpful check list of 18 reasons why cats feel stressed or unhappy enough to mark territory. You’ll also find advice on dealing with the behaviour and how to resolve the problem.http://www.celiahaddon.co.uk/pet%20probl…

Invest in some Feliway plug-ins. They emit an aroma that cats find comforting, and the more relaxed he feels, the less he’ll be inclined to spray.
I appreciate that this is a very frustrating problem to deal with, but please be patient with him. Resist any temptation to discipline him, as this will only make him feel miserable and make the problem worse.
