Is There A Law In Maine That Says Pet Cats Need To Have Their Rabies Vaccinations?

I have 2 feral cats. A few years ago they got their rabies shots (I used a Have-A-Hart trap to catch them). Now the vets are constantly asking me to catch them and bring them in again. I don’t want to bother—they’re wild and if they get rabies and die then so be it. I was only wondering if there was a law that says I HAVE to give them the vaccinations or not.

    yes.http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stusm…
BTW, in many states, if you feed a feral cat, you are responsible for it. I can’t find anything specific for Maine, but your local animal shelter can tell you.http://www.cfainc.org/articles/legislati…

If they get rabies and die SO BE IT???? that sounds like a proud statement from a pet owner!
The vets are asking you to get them vacinated because if the get rabies and bite another animal that is not feral-there will be an outbreak in your neighborhood-I am guessing your answer to that is also so be it…..
What if they bite someone, have rabies, and the person they bite dies?? Is ii “so be it” then.
My advice to you is start a savings account and stock it up! You may be in for some lawsuits from another pet owner at somepoint.
You shouldnt own/have any pets in my opinion. Even if they are feral you should still give them the care they need. If they get sick and are suffering – so be it- is NOT the answer.
I hope you dont have kids…..if they get sick, your judgement may not be the best.
I am not saying this to be mean- but ALL animals feral or not need proper care.
