I don’t know all of the laws right now in the US concerning this, but I can’t understand why it’s illegal to sell or serve dog or cat in the US, but other animals, such as rabbits (which I am the proud owner of two house rabbits) have little or no protection. It disgusts me and I refuse to go to a restaurant that serves rabbit or buy from any company that uses them for food or for fur (or lucky charms for that matter). Why can’t we develop legislation for the protection of the most popular domesticated house pets. My rabbits (which I was reluctant to get at first) are more affectionate and have more of a personality than most dogs or cats I’ve had or seen. It just doesn’t seem right. We need to protect all domesticated American house pets. You would never hear of a dog slaughterhouse in the US, but there still remain rabbit slaughterhouses. It’s time to end it.
