What Breed Of Dog Makes Great In House Pets?
Im moving into some new apartments and I was wondering what would be the best kind of small dog to get, my mom has a shi tzu and she seems to be a great in house dog, I need something pretty quiet, but a good protector, good with kids and gentle.
i had three yorkshire terriers and there the cutest little dogst here great companinons and also they are small but when in danger those little buggers can protect your whole house plus there cute
Id go with an English Bulldog, theyre gentle and sleep a lot.
yeah, i would go with a shi tzu as a house dog. we had one as kids, she had a beautiful nature, she was protective and totally adorable!
I know this sounds crazy but they are great dogs and they come in different sizes but you need a retired greyhound .They are all ready crate trained, potty trained, love people don’t bark much . All they need is one good walk a day and all the love you can give them.
Poodle. They dont shed, They LOVE kids, easy to train, good with other dogs, most dont bark alot, will protect you and other family members as long as they know them. There are 4 main sizes,(actually, these are all the sizes not only the main) teacup,Tiny toy, toy, miniture, medium and standered. My moms dogs are all these things and most other poodles are to as long as they are at the rite home. They need to be inside also. They are NOT outside dogs no matter what other people say do NOT leave them outside. They will be friends with your family and your friends also.
I hope you chose to buy one of my mom’s poodles. To look at them go to the site below:
Before you run out and spend a lot of money on a dog, go to your local humane society and see what kind of dogs they have for adoption. there you will be able to get to know the dog before you take it home. the advantage to that is: you will be able to see if it is a barker, and you can see what size dog is truly for you. Besides all that you will be rescuing a dog from a lethal injection.
Another plus to getting an older dog is that you won’t have to potty train it. I have had many dogs, and trust me no matter how hard you try a dog is not easy to potty train, and it will have accidents in the house. When you are renting you don’t want that. I also believe that if this is your first dog, it will be easier for you, because you will be able to learn more about dogs as that one grows old.
I also want to warn you about the financial burden of having a dog, are you prepared for it? I have two dogs. I always try to keep five hundred dollars available in case of an emergency. Don’t forget about vet costs. It isn’t cheep
Either way I wish you my best, and hope you find a Friend that fills your world with joy… Please thing about adopting a dog, there is one out there that is waiting for you to love.
I also want you to know that small dogs tend to be barkers. a medium sized dog may be more suitable for a apartment situation. If all fails go with a lab they are the top rated dogs for familys in the US. My first dog was a lab, She was a sweet heart. they are big, but if you pick a runt and a female she will only be seventy pounds or so…
good luck
pit bull is what I got,
great natured calm and cool :=)
I would say Jack Russell Terrier. Or Border Colie.
daschund hound, there quiet, rarely bark and they are the most love able little things….
I always thought chows wheren’t very good with kids, kinda mean. We just got a pup, it is half doxon and half Yorky. It is a small dog, loves our kids, and just has a great personality….hope that helps a little. We found her at a pound….I would suggest going there first and they can actually tell you which one can fit your needs…..but try a few first…..good luck puppy huntin….
Chihuahua, they are made to live inside, on your lap, sit beside you, be wherever you are. Don’t get a big breed dog as some suggested because they go crazy when penned up in small areas. They get so depressed. It changes them completely.
I’m a big dog person myself, but poodles are incredibly smart. They actually were bred as hunting dogs.
If your going for small, but family protective (not too protective), I would go with a West Highland Terrier. I own one & he is wonderful with the family, but also protective.
I say get a lab.
Or even a um what are they called…. uh oh ya! A shetland sheep dog. (you know, the ones like “Lassie” lol)
And even like a pomeranian
But labs are the best with kids!!
Get a Maltese
chow…….there cute and so toyish like lol
i got a chihuahua
a small dog I would say a bichon shitzu or a beagle
