I would say a tarantula. I have 20 or so and love them all! Each has their own unique personality and do get to know you. Scorpions are also a great choice. I am currently awaiting the arrival of babies. If you are looking for a totally awesome little creature, check out a tail-less whip scorpion. They are pretty much harmless as they do not posssess a stinger on their tail. They look like little aliens from outer space....lol They have a pretty neat history too.
