Which Is The Best Area In The House To Keep A Pet Dog And How To Protect The Drywall From The Pet.?

Planning on getting a puppy. I am trying to find out which is the best place in the house to keep the dog. I am thinking I’ll keep in the formal living/office on the first floor. Also I’d like to how how can I prevent the dog from damaging the drywall. I’ve seen my friend’s dog rip the wall paper, scratch the drywall.

The dog should be where you are. A puppy will want to follow you room to room anyway, keep an eye on it and no drywall will be damaged as long as youre correcting him properly and get him trained as soon as he’s vaccinated.
If you cant watch him at any time, including bed time then he needs to be confined somewhere where he cant hurt anything and more importantly nothing can hurt him. A crate is an exceptional way to protect your pup and property from one another.

I have a dog and I have never seen her damage the drywall..sounds like your friends dog has never been trained properly and have emotional problems when they are destructive.
Dogs need to spend alot of time outside. Try that.

Yeah–puppies do that-my dog chewed my drywall when he was a puppy and my Beagle likes to like it till he licks a hole in it! Go figure. You just have to train them to “leave it”. Of course–this takes time so be patient-you can always repair the drywall once the dog learns to leave it alone. Good Luck.
