Why Does My Dog Lie Down When People Try And Pet Her?
Whenever we have someone over to the house and they bend over to pet my dog, she goes down on the floor like she is excited/scared.Then flops over on her side. She is normal to anyone that lives in the house.What is she doing?

She is showing that she is submissive to the new person, and that she is not a threat. In so may words it is dog language for “please don’t kill me” or “i’m not so sure about this”. Dogs do it with each other as well. We have a pup who will follow me around with the horses all day long and play with the other dogs, but as soon as she goes up to her mom she hits her back.
