Is it a tense baring of the teeth, and a growl, or a relaxed open mouth?
Where did you get the dog? If from a breeder, ask the breeder. If from a shelter, ask them.
Please take this dog immediately to doggy training school and learn how to communicate with it.

i think that means the dogs a little frightened by the boy and wants attention but just not from him.i think you should get rid of the dog to a older couple or owner i wouldn’t suggest having the dog around your children i hope he doesn’t bite him good luck….

When you pet the dog does he show his teeth like that? Many little dogs do, and when they go up to a person to be petted they’ll show their teeth in anticipation of being petted, thinking about how good it will feel. Sort of like how we smile. So unless the showing of the teeth is also followed by a growl then I would think it is safe to let the boy pet the dog. Just watch the boy to make sure he’s not too rough.

I would suggest slow introductions and a calm atmosphere.
Have the child hold a treat for the dog and hold it out for him just do this every so often it should help. The dog may be frightened if the boy is running around or being loud, by little I assume you mean something under 30 pounds, he may think the child will step on or hurt him and is only protecting himself.
Just have the child sit calmly (if you can lol) and let him hold out food for the dog, dont let him pet the dog if it is eating the food or you still see any fear.
    Hope this helps ^^
